Men’s Series: Peterson’s Cut – The Inaugural Playlist

MENS SERIEScopyJust as one should be open to trying different styles and tastes, I think it’s equally important for people to expand their taste in music.  Music can frame a situation much like clothes frame your image.

I mean, imagine if you chose to put your music on shuffle at a party…straight-edge “Kate” would clearly not enjoy your favorite Ol’ Dirty Bastard song (side note, if you do happen to play that type of music at your party…please invite me immediately).

Anyway, I’ve always prided myself in creating playlists for my friends and for parties so I’ve decided to curate a seasonal playlist.  I take a lot pride in sifting through *so* much garbage to distill the greatest tracks that I think you guys would like. True story: my friend, Brecht, and I once got a shout-out in a rough part of town solely because of my tunes.  Regardless, I hope that CheetahTalk’s readers can discover new artists and break free from the mind-numbing radio repeats (see Iggy Azalea) by checking out my playlist.  Enjoy.

  1. Chris Cornell – “Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart”

Always loved Chris Cornell’s solo work and obviously his hits with Audioslave & Soundgarden. This song from his new album “Higher Truth” is another great. We share names so of course he is incredibly talented.

  1. Sunday Candy

Chance the Rapper definitely has struck some gold here. I would love to see him produce more hits like this. Keep an eye on him.

  1. Eagles of Death Metal – “Complexity”

First of all, these guys are ridiculous and awesome. For my hard rock fans, Eagles of Death Metal just dropped a new album and it couldn’t come soon enough. Complexity is electrifying and addictive.

  1. G-Eazy & Lil Wayne – “I Like Tuh (remix)”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ws9R3wQHxYs

G-Eazy is my dude! Some may know ILoveMakonnen / DJ Carnage’s “I Like Tuh”, but Lil Wayne & G-Eazy just make it so much better.  As the kids say: “turn up turn up”

  1. Justin Bieber – “Sorry”

I forbid you to tell anyone I showed you this. I have never been, nor ever will be a “belieber” so stop yourself before any accusatory claims.  TBH I actually hate this video with a passion and have to look away.  Anyway…this will probably be on the radio in the next week or so…dang it.

  1. Sol – “Ain’t Gon Stop”

Random track of the day to chill out with.

  1. Mac Miller – “Grandkids”

Mr. Miller was at the Pageant (StL) October 20. Yes I’m aware all the best acts come through during the middle of the week. That’s life in the Midwest son.

  1. KYGO – “Dirty Paws (remix)”

KYGO is the king of Summer!  There I said it. The man has mastered the coldest beats that makes me feel like I’m walking on the beach when it’s gross out (see Missouri winter). Download all of his remixes now.

  1. Wiz Khalifa – “King of Everything”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGO_aMTjpFI

My coworker saw me bobbing my head to this song the other day and I wasn’t even ashamed. This is one of those songs you must blast through your car speakers to get full effect. #suchflow

  1. Kid Cudi – “love.”

KID CUDI’S ALBUM DROPPING DECEMBER 4. Preview of his new work looks ~pretty nice~ Everyone knows I’m a fan of some Ratatat beats…homie.

  1. Major Lazer – “Light It Up”

Major Lazer, a trio of DJs, may finally be on everyone’s radar due to their international hit, “Lean On”. Their style definitely has some Jamaican reggae influence behind that dance pop. Definitely a fan of their latest album, “Peace is the Mission”.

  1. Aviici & Martin Garrix ft. John Legend – “Waiting for Love”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2bnm45qd2k

Is this song massively popular yet?  I mean in America.  If not, here it is and you’re welcome. Yes, its the remix. Yes, it’s better than the original.

THE RISKY BIT

Not sure if you guys will dig this one, but I throw it up there just in case!

BONUS ROUND

Happy Halloween everyone.

There you have it. While some of these are not exactly hot-off-the-press, these jams will certainly breathe some fresh life into your playlist.  I kind of view these as the best songs I found in the last few months.  Let me know if you like ‘em!
