With society beginning to reopen and restaurants now expanding to dine in as an option, I have a feeling a lot of us will be wanting to go out to eat a little more this summer. And luckily if you don’t eat any or much meat as myself, eating out is starting to get much easier with many places offering vegetarian or plant-based meats as an alternative. I personally am a big fan of the plant-based meats, burgers to be exact because I don’t feel like I’m missing out and when I go to a backyard bbq I can easily find a pack at the grocery to bring. So if you’re on the lookout for a plant-based burger to enjoy this summer in St. Louis, look no further!

  2. Tree House– A fully vegetarian/vegan restaurant in the heart of South Grand serves thoughtfully prepared cuisine and cocktails. I personally took my friend who was visiting from out of town (she’s plant-based) here for brunch and let me tell you the hype about this place is SO real! This is one of those restaurants that I would take someone who isn’t plant based because the food here is flavorful that I think anyone would like it. But for the purposes of this post the burger that they beyond cheese burger you can try next time you’re in.

  3. Rockwell Beer– Want a plant-based burger and some great craft beer? Then I recommend you check out Rockwell Beer and I have to tell you they have my FAVORITE veggie burger in town, they also now offer a mushroom burger which is on my list to try and while you’re there do yourself a favor and order a side of fries. You’re welcome.

  4. Fozzie’s I think this place is a hidden gem in St. Louis and if you haven’t paid this place a visit, I highly recommend you do. They are what I think of as a more hip cafe offering a variety of foods that you would expect at your everyday cafe with tasteful twists and much more like gyros. They offer both a veggie burger and a black bean burger and I also have to say I am a fan of their salads and their dessert, Salty Kisses.

  5. Seedz– Is a fully vegan cafe in the cute Demun neighborhood offering a full menu that goes beyond what you’d expect at your everyday cafe. Everything is fresh and very tasty, for burgers they offer a bbq black bean burger and Classic Cheese Burger with is also paired with their black bean patty and many many more plant-based options from juices to dessert.

  6. 3 Kings Public Pub– A local St. Louis spot in town- this pub’s atmosphere and food is what you’d expect when you hear the word pub, great eats and a chill place. A family friendly and now plant-based friendly restaurant which now offers the Impossible Burger 2.0 and a black bean burger for you enjoy on your next visit.

  7. Frida’s– Another plant-based restaurant in town serving up some yummy bites can be found in the University City neighborhood. Frida’s has 5 different burgers you can pick from to satisfy any burger craving you might be having.

  12. 5 Star Burgers– Offers a veggie burger right in the heart of Clayton. Also, a great spot to meet up friends and everyone enjoy a burger they might like while you enjoy your plant-based one.

  13. Chicken Out– In case you’re craving a chicken sandwich (which I’m still including in this) this “newish” spot inDelmar Loop which I would say is a gourmet version of Chick-fil-a has also teamed up with Hungry Planet to offer a Faux Haux sandwich. Enjoy!

  14. 12oh7– Is a local black-owned and plant-based business that doesn’t have a storefront per say but they instead offer pick up as an option. They update their menus every week using local ingredients and let me tell you EVERYTHING they post is mouth watering and might even fool you in thinking it isn’t plant-based. Check them out and support local!

  15. Burger King– Now I know what you’re thinking, “Burger King, really?” Yes really, St. Louis was actually the pilot city in which it was tested before it was released nationwide. Not only is this a cheaper/affordable version but it is able to introduce a mass market to try out plant-based burger with impossible meats and if anything else gives an option for us plant-based people to eat something at a fast food restaurants lets say when we are on a road trip and options are limited. So don’t knock til you try it!

And that’s a wrap! I really hope this list can help you find a local spot in St. Louis to try a plant-based burger and to see all of the options you have if you’re on a plant-based diet or if you’re wanting to cut back on meat.
Enjoy!
