5 Things I Do Everyday While Working From Home To Be Productive During Quarantine

If you’re like me, we are a whole month in from working from ever since this quarantine started and you have working from home down now. I have learned that in order to be the most productive I need to keep the same routine and habits as I did when I had to go into the office, of course with a few perks. Like getting up a little later because I don’t have to get ready to go into work and drive. So you best believe I am enjoying being in comfy clothes everyday with no makeup, I’m excited to see quarantine glow up I will have once this is all said and done.

Here are 5 things I do at while working from home that have helped me stay productive during quarantine.

1.Have Breakfast- Now that I don’t have to pack my breakfast to go wake up much earlier to have breakfast, I have found that I have a little more time to give myself a few minutes to sit down and have breakfast. Of course my coffee always makes it to my desk every morning because your girl can’t ever drink it fast enough and that’s something that even working from home hasn’t changed.

2. Listen to My Morning News Podcasts– One of the first things I would always do when I started my drive to work is listen to my selected morning news podcasts and once I got into the office I would finish listening to them and read the Skimm. This is has been great to continue to do especially with everything going on in the world it is always great to stay informed and this has always been a great way for me to start my day so I could know what others were talking about if the topic came up in the office. Because world news still comes up even on zoom calls 🙂

3. Use My Everyday Supplies From Work– I am a big fan of color coordinating and that means with pens, sticky notes, folders, notebook, even my calendar. If you are like me you have a set of pens and sticky notes you use at work as opposed to what you use at home (my super organizing freaks get me here). So before we were sent to work from home we were allowed to bing what we needed and you best believe I brought all my supplies so that I could continue to use my work supplies when I am at home working to help my mind register that when I use these items we are working just like I use to when I would go into the office.

4. Take My Lunch Break Away From My Desk– Just as when I was at work I would not eat at my desk unless it was necessary that day to catch up on work that I had to meet for a deadline. I make sure that I always left my desk to eat and to take a mini mental break, if I were at work I would be eating with my girlfriends for lunch but now I get to eat with Chris which is an equal treat! And just like I would at work if I had time and it was a nice day I would o for a walk or go run a quick errand. Now the perk is I get to eat with Chris and I don’t have to pack anything in the morning!

5. Work 9-5- I have learned that when working from home it is easy to stay connected longer because you are working form home but remember just like when you are at work you need to find a stopping point. It has been very helpful that during the day when I am working I go into our second bedroom and that is the only place I work for the most part. But just like at work when I am needed to tackle something after hours I will but I also make sure that if I begin working early that I stop a little early that day as well to make sure I keep a balance.
