How to Support Small Businesses During Quarantine/Coronavirus- Ways You May Have NOT Thought of

I know that this is such an uncertain time and especially for small businesses so if you can help or possibly want to help them in the future when they are back open then I gotchu. Here is my list of ways that you can help small businesses during the coronavirus and a few that you may have not thought of!

  • Purchase their Products– This seems like a pretty obvious one but if some of your favorite small businesses are still open or shipping out product buy some for yourself, others, as gifts. (Get an early start on Christmas gifts!)
  • Gift Cards– To get and use at a later date or to give to someone else to enjoy, either way this is immediate money that will help a small business now.
  • Do an Exchange with a Friend– I’m sure just like you, your friends have a few favorite small local businesses that they love that maybe you haven’t tried or are missing. Think of calling them up and swapping coffee, treats, prints, etc. from your favorite small business and they do the same, it’s a win, win for everyone!
  • Leave a Review– If you have purchased a product or visited a shop, restaurant or cafe and loved it, leave them a review Yelp, Google, and/or Facebook. This will help them tremendously when other are looking to try them or searching to try a new place or purchase a product.
  • Share & Tag– Use your social media and spread some small business love, this costs you nothing and with everyone on their phone more and more, you may help someone find their next favorite small business!
  • Recommend– Word of mouth is still one of the best ways to help. If you see that someone you know is looking for recommendations for something they want to buy or try, tell them what your favorites are.
  • Add Them to Your Wishlist- Birthday, Holiday or any wishlist you may have, consider adding them so that when someone asks you what you like for x reason you have it ready and will continue to support small businesses even then!
  • Gift Them– Here is one that my list people will love. Create categories in which all your favorite small businesses can be listed under (ex. gifts for mom, gifts under $20, etc.) then when it comes time to buy someone a gift return to that list and purchase from them.
  • Create a List of Places You Want to Visit When This is Over– I know all of us are looking forward to the when this is all over. For all the places you currently can’t visit but enjoyed in the past, create a list and begin to cross them off by visiting them in the future.

I hope that this list helps anyone who is looking for ways in which they can support small businesses during the coronavirus and even gave you a few ideas you might have not thought of. Please let me know if you can think of anymore and how you will be helping your favorite small businesses during and after the coronavirus.
