Where We stayed in San Miguel de Allende

Happy Thursday!

You’ve asked for it and it is finally here, where we stayed in San Miguel de Allende. We actually decided to stay at an airbnb instead of a hotel just to get the full experience, plus when we travel we like to feel like we are apart of the town and live there. When we first were searching where to stay one of the requirements was that it has to be walking distances from El Centro as we did not rent a car while we were there and wanted to be able to get around town easily and wanted the chance to be able to come home to nap or freshen up when needed. So we landed on this place,  a 3 story home, only about 3-4 blocks from El Centro and tucked away in the neighborhood.

As soon as you entered the come there was a little sitting area and when you looked up you could see the stairway that took you to the next 2 floors plus the rooftop.

When you turned right you could enter the dining room/ kitchen which had all the basics you needed while there, plus a gallon of purified water. Because if there is one thing you should know about Mexico and anywhere when traveling that it is best you drink bottled purified water.

On the second floor was a second room that served as an office area which also had a bathroom of its own. One thing we loved about this place is that each floor had its own bathroom so you didn’t have to run to another level to go.

Then you took the metal spiral stairs to head to the 3rd floor which had the bedroom with the amazing view!

The bathroom had amazing detailed tile while the room was left pretty plain in decor, it made up for the view you could get from sitting on your bed. It also had a walk out patio area which we used to watch sunsets, relax and take the beauty of the town in. We also would sleep with the doors open because the weather would be very cool at night and being high up we would get a great breeze.

Quick note: the majority of homes in Mexico do not have ac system built in the houses so having the temperature drop at night makes it easy to sleep and only use if a fan if needed.

And last but not least, the rooftop of the home, again nothing fancy but it as the place to be when wanting to get a better view of the town and your neighbors!

Overall we loved our stay at the airbnb we picked as it was walking distance from El Centro and the activities you could do but one of the downfalls of it was the locals like to pop fireworks like crazy in this area which meant that we did not sleep well at times. So I highly recommend bringing earplugs, a sleeping mask and sleeping medicine to get you though nights like that. I would not recommend this place if you are traveling with elderly people or children as it is a lot of stairs. But in case this place is right up your alley like ours HERE is where we stayed.

Hope this helps you pick a place on your next trip to San Miguel de Allende!
