  1. Tequila Tasting Tours- When we arrived in town we booked our tour that day with the people who work in association with the distilleries. You can book your trips ahead of time but this worked for us. Though I will say it can be overwhelming with the amount of people approaching you for these types of tours it’s worth to at least check one out.  These tours cover the art of tequila production like it’s history, the cultivation, harvesting, and distillation process of Mexico’s most iconic spirit. You also will be able to sample a variety of tequila flavors, from smooth blanco to aged añejo depending what your tour has to offer. Tour options include some of the big names like such as Jose Cuervo, Casa Sauza, and Herradura but there are also some medium and smaller ones that variey in price.

*Quick note- you are also able to book tours that pick you pick from Guadalajara and take you to Tequila and even make a few stops along the way to get the party started. I found these listed on Trip Advisor and Airbnb experiences but be sure to do your own research as well.

  2. Agave Landscape- One your drive to Tequila you will begin to see some of the agave landscape and most tours also make a stop in these for photos. Overall it helps in understanding how tequila comes to be from agave and how important it is to the region.

  3. Tequila Express- Now if you want to hop aboard the Tequila Express train for a scenic journey through the heart of Jalisco’s tequila country, this is another fun way to get to Tequila. From what I have seen Jose Cuervo is the one who offers this experience in a vintage-style railcars that takes you through the countryside, passing by agave fields, historic haciendas, and charming villages along the way. Ending up at their distillery with plenty of tequila tastings along the way (check for packages) and there as you soak up the sights and sounds of this unique experience.

  4. Local Cultural Immersion- As you walk around the city center of Tequila you will find small plaques with history and can learn about the history of tequila production at the National Museum of Tequila or discover the artistry of local artisans at the Museo de la Ceramica. Wander through the streets of Tequila’s charming town center, where colonial architecture blends seamlessly with vibrant street art and bustling markets.

In addition to these top attractions, be sure to savor the flavors of traditional Mexican cuisine at local eateries and indulge in the warmth and hospitality of Tequila’s friendly residents. Whether you’re a tequila aficionado, a history buff, or simply a curious traveler seeking adventure, Tequila, Jalisco, promises an unforgettable experience that will leave you thirsting for more.
